Case History
Heather Wiggins is a 53 year old woman who had her menopause early at the age of 40, but had no other risk factors for osteoporosis. She had already been referred by her NHS GP for a DEXA scan, but had not yet had it 9 months later when the New Medical DEXA scanning offer arrived on her doorstep. Tired of waiting, she took it up and this confirmed she had quite severe osteoporosis. Armed with a copy of her scan, she then went to see her GP and was started on bone strengthening medication and also calcium and vitamin D supplements.
“I am so glad to have had the opportunity for this scan and it was very convenient to have it done in my own surgery. Anything which will help keep me healthy as I get older has to be a good thing,” says Heather.
